The overall experience was very enjoyable, but unfortunately the guide makes all the difference. Since going later in the season, the river wasn't as bad and seemed very mild which was good for sight seeing, but my group didn't have much time to do that since our guide, Austin, made us paddle almost 90 percent of the trip when other rafts in front of us weren't paddling that much and their guides seemed to do a lot of work on their own. Austin seemed pretty chill at first, but often blamed the group for when we would get stuck a few times and would yell at us to paddle when there were rocks in the way, in which I couldn't even stick my paddle in the water. At one point he told us we were paddling like girls and yelled at me specifically for paddling backwards when he said, "we need to go backwards". To recap, I enjoy the company and experience overall, definitely worth the money and the other guides seemed great, but Austin was far from.
You take about 20 minutes to bus up to the rafting area. Rafting through the Royal Gorge is the best, beautiful scenery carved out by the river and time. The rapids are fun and you have quite the ride. Make sure you listen to your guide, secure yourself feet into the edge of raft and enjoy.
We had an awesome time on our rafting trip! We rafted a category 4, and it was perfectly fine even for the beginner in the group. We appreciated all of the extras offered such as shoes, jackets and wet suits. Tommy, our guide, was awesome! He shared shared his experiences and answered all of our many questions. He was also very knowledgeable and took his role in our safety very seriously, while still being fun an entertaining! Will definitely be coming back!
We are also so glad we added the extra Royal Gorge leg to our journey. It ended up being the highlight of the rafting experience.
Rafts Masters the name says it all. Masters of rafting, masters of great guides, masters of hospitality. All tour guides are friendly, upbeat, energetic and knowledgeable of the river.
I've raft with this company several times for about 6yrs and we really enjoy it. All rafters are able to get wetsuits (which i recommend), water boots if needed, water coat if needed. I recommend changing into wetsuit with only under garments to make it comfy. Everyone is required to wear safety helmet and life vest. The guides will securely fasten your PFD, don't unloosen, it's supposed to be that tight.
There were 12 rafters and 4 campers-only in our party when we set out for a three day/two night trip. I am also happy to say that was exactly the number of folks who finished the trip as well :-).
Fun for couples, family or solo.
It was our first time rafting and I would recommend them to anyone. The entire staff is very fun, friendly, and professional. We had a great morning on the river! Our guide Mark is awesome! He clearly has a lot of experience on the water, and was super funny and kind. I would definitely raft with them again, and I would ask for him specifically. I hope to make a return trip, when the water is higher in the spring.
The guys went to such lengths to make sure we were comfortable in our rolls and understanding the commands as we navigated down river that we all felt like we could have filled in for them at anytime....okay, maybe that was a reach....but the point is we were able to focus on the fun of the ride and not be as concerned about what to do next. Our guides, Mike and Tommy, and their trusty sidekick Nicole were fantastic. I would definitely ask for these folks specifically if you can. They were so focused on making sure we all had a good time the entire trip that there was no way we wouldn't have had a blast. Not to mention these guys can cook!!!!!!!
