Okay, I am a train buff so maybe I am a little biased (according to my wife) but I loved this train ride. Great views of the Royal Gorge along with a smooth ride on beautiful train cars with excellent food. I strongly recommend the Vista Dome cars, though the curved glass does distort the view some. I also recommend stepping outside to the open cars for at least part of the trip.
I give this 4 stars only for the price. It gets really pricey if you have a family of 5 or so. If you really enjoy trains and scenery though it's definitely worth going at least once. Amazing views and great tour guides on the trains.
Loved the train and the scenery! Very worth it! We did the vista dome with breakfast. It was "ok" fare but next time I would rather eat breakfast beforehand and just order their cinnamon rolls. They were delicious and BIG!
Very Unique Train Station & Train Ride ! ..... there is an open carriage where you can stand as the train travels through some very scenic mountains & gorges - right next to a river - through old mining locations.
If you do get food, order ASAP. The train isn't really equipped for fast service if there are a bunch of passengers ordering at once. If you're going to eat on the train, order first, that way you get it first and you can enjoy the ride more than waiting for your food. It looses one star because it took forever to get our breakfast out. Plus the staff was so busy it constantly seemed like we were being forgotten.
Not that great. Their ticket should not be expensive, it is not worth that much. Food is expensive as well.
